The majority of Republicans live in an alternative reality, which they think is the ONLY TRUE reality. If you don't watch FOX News or listen to Rush Limbaugh, you don't know the REAL truth and are being brainwashed without even knowing it. All other media outlets are referred to as the ELITE media or LAME stream media.
This is a rigid belief system and it's completely impossible to convince a Republican that other media outlets besides FOX and Rush can be objective too.
To demonstrate my point, let's look at some recent comments by Newt Gingrich:
"This danger to America," Gingrich says, "is greater than anything I dreamed possible after we won the Cold War, and the Soviet Union disappeared in December 1991. We now face a dire threat to America here at home. We stand at a crossroads: either we will save our country or we will lose it.”
The Left, Gingrich explains, has expanded their power through their control of academia, the elite news media, union leaders, trial lawyers, the bureaucracy, the courts, and lobbyists at the state and federal levels. They share a vision of a secular, socialist America run for the interests of the members of the political machine that keeps them in power. It will be an America where government dominates the people rather than represents them. In short, they want to use government power to change who we are and how we think. And Barack Obama is working hard to impose that vision upon America right now.
As you can see, Gingrich believes that the elite news media, union leaders, trial lawyers, the courts, academia and lobbyists are all part of a vast conspiracy to turn America into a secular, socialist state.

Democratic Personality Disorder. A liberal disorder evidenced by thought that you can create something by destroying it. That believes you can spend money you don't have while working to destroy the source of funds. Other indicators include eliminating reliable energy sources available today and using unreliable sources or sources that have not been invented yet. Paying people not to work to get them to work. Creating jobs by over taxing employers. Creating stable families by destroying the family structure. Creating freedom by taking away choice. Creating independence through dependence on government. And by disarming the victims you can stop the criminals.
